Join the Exploratorium and the City and County of San Francisco for LP25 Interactive, a day of engaging emergency preparedness activities to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake, the largest seismic event to occur in the Bay Area since 1906.

Visit an earthquake simulator and experience what happens when a large earthquake occurs, learn how to use a fire extinguisher, and find out more about earthquake and fire safety and other emergency preparedness practices.

The day will culminate in a Taste of Preparedness (TOP) Chef Cook-Off hosted by the Salvation Army from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in which five teams will compete by creating a tasty meal using nonperishable ingredients.

Participating organizations include American Red Cross, SF72, PG&E, California Earthquake Authority: California Rocks!, San Francisco Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), San Francisco Neighborhood Response Team (NERT), U.S. Geological Survey, NextDoor, Solar Wagon, FEMA, SPCA, Human Services Agency of San Francisco, Earthquake Country Alliance, United Policy Holders, Early Earthquake Warning: ShakeAlert, Neighborhood Empowerment Network, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, and Quake Cottage.
