Join us for a family-friendly trek through a delightful, but often forgotten, facet of cinema history. Cassie Blake, an Academy film archivist, will present a one-of-a-kind trailer show curated from the world’s largest known collection of coming attractions on film.

Exploring the importance of these brief yet hugely entertaining film miniatures, the program will span an array of genres and eras—featuring live action, animation, and everything in between—showcasing a mix of well-loved classics and little known rarities. This screening promises to be a unique opportunity to experience vintage 16mm film gems, many of which have not been seen in decades.

Cassie Blake is a film archivist at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2010, she helped establish the world's largest collection of theatrical trailers on film, the Packard Humanities Institute Collection at the Academy Film Archive. She's presented on the subject of promotional films at the Association of Moving Image Archivists annual conference, Orphan Film Symposium, Society of Cinema and Media Studies annual conference, and Deutsche Kinemathek colloquium. Her curated trailer screenings have been staged in several major cities, including Los Angeles, Portland, and, most recently, New York, at the Museum of Modern Art.
