Whether inside the museum or on the other side of the planet, in school settings or out in the world, we offer a variety of professional learning resources to support better teaching and better learning. The following programs allow us to support a wide range of groups, grade levels, and areas of expertise while staying true to the Exploratorium’s inquiry-based approach.
The Teacher Institute supports a lively community of secondary science and math teachers and leaders through workshops, online communities, and classroom activities.
The Institute for Inquiry addresses the theory and practice of inquiry-based science education with K–5 teachers and professional learning providers.
The Tinkering Studio supports educators in developing hands-on activities that explore learning and creativity through making.
And of course, our own Field Trip Explainers get to participate in daily trainings and reflective practice while engaging visitors on the museum floor.
In addition to our own programs, we collaborate with educational institutions both at home and abroad, allowing us to work with and learn from specific groups. Whether it’s tinkering with our local Boys and Girls Clubs, helping California educators implement the new state standards, or infusing science into the monastic education of Tibetan monks and nuns, our partnerships touch thousands of educators and students around the world, and we’re proud to support their work.
