Hands-on learning hits the road.
The Lookmobile is a mobile learning center created by the Exploratorium for the San Mateo County Library. It rolls from neighborhood to neighborhood, connecting local library branches and creating lively, welcoming outdoor spaces. An activity zone on wheels, the Lookmobile gives library visitors tools to look more closely at the region in which they live.
The Lookmobile houses a camera obscura, pinhole-camera wall, and perspective-drawing windows. Visitors can peruse various kinds of maps—or draw and post their own. Another exhibit lets visitors play with fog, creating hilly terrain out of beanbag chairs and observing how the fog flows around it.
