Exploratorium to host its annual playdate and vital fundraiser on Sunday, October 6
SAN FRANCISCO (September 16, 2024) – The Exploratorium is thrilled to invite families, friends, and science enthusiasts of all ages to its beloved Wonder Funday on Sunday, October 6th, from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. This annual fundraising event promises a day of hands-on science, discovery, and interactive activities, offering a fun-filled experience for families and supporters of the museum.
Wonder Funday has become a cherished tradition that not only brings the joy of learning to all ages but also helps support the Exploratorium's educational programs and initiatives throughout the year, including our community access programs, which help bring tens of thousands of kids to the museum admission-free every year.
This year's event celebrates the natural wonders surrounding our Pier 15 waterfront home, featuring Explainer-led activities and demonstrations that will show how to observe and explore all the Bay has to offer. Some of these family fun activities include a plankton extraction and demonstration, kelp pressing, mud grabs, face painting, the opportunity to design your own tote bag and more!
“Now in its eighth year, I'm so proud of what this event has become,” said Josie Haspel, Wonder Funday Family Host Committee member. “It was important to our founding committee that it not only be a special day for the kids in attendance but also benefit kids all over the Bay Area. We're delighted that the Exploratorium welcomes over 150,000 Bay Area children and teachers annually, with more than half of them attending for free, ensuring that the museum is accessible regardless of school and family resources.”
Whether you’re a long-time supporter or a first-time visitor, Wonder Funday promises a day of fun, discovery, and an opportunity to give back to the community. For more information on tickets and sponsorship levels, please visit the Wonder Funday event page.
