As we are in the middle of the holiday season, I thought it would be nice to talk about a holiday The Tinkering Studio participated in. For this particular Halloween, we curated a set of thematic materials for our animation\ station using tiny pumpkins, a bag of creepy crawlies, and some laser cut tombstones. We also changed our usual colorful backgrounds. On one of our animations stations, we used our favorite material: cardboard!
On the other station we went with the more spooky (albeit fashion-forward) black denim:
Our original intentions behind spookifying our beloved exhibit, came from us wanting to partake in the holiday. Little did we know we had a treat in store for us! We quickly took notice that the black fabric allowed for our original material set to pop. For example in this video below the background added to the quality of this animation.
The extra materials that we put out added to the stories, that were being told using stop motion animation. Finding ways to enrich an activity is something we love to practice. If we get to involve Halloween in that process it just makes for even better time ;)
