Navigation

Navigation by observation alone is a skill you can't learn overnight. To look at the stars or feel the canoe lurching on the waves and from this know which way you're headed; to see a bird overhead and know whether it is flying toward land, away from land, or neither; to find an island using cloud patterns or changes in the surface texture of the water––all of this requires acute awareness and practice, practice, practice.
