Just for Tonight:

Dangerous Demos
With Zeke Kossover

7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Osher Gallery 1, Kanbar Forum

Don’t flinch! Exploratorium educator Zeke Kossover performs a trio of demonstrations with real science and real danger. Will you volunteer to put your face in the path of a gigantic, spiked mace? Nap on a bed of nails? Stand in a shower of sparks reaching 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit? With fearlessness and faith in physics, Zeke will ringlead this spectacle of science. Do not try this at home!

Fearology
With Mary Poffenroth

8:00 p.m.
Fisher Bay Observatory Gallery 6

Bone up on the science of scary with renowned fear expert Mary Poffenroth. This enlightening and interactive presentation will demystify and destigmatize all your questions about fear. Using zombies as the model figure, Mary will dissect their “braaaaaains” to teach the neurological and physiological responses to external and internal stressors that we experience as fright. Learn how to identify and navigate fear in your own body in this bravery “boo-camp”.

Exemplary Exhibits:

Cemetery of Dead Science
Dolby Atrium

Creep through a graveyard of debunked science in our annual display of ideas that have expired. Honoring the scientific process of continual testing and revision of theories, these decorative headstones highlight some ideas that are best laid to rest. See if any of these debunked beliefs surprise you—or if you worry that any of them might come back to life!

Food and drinks will be available to purchase in our Seaglass Restaurant and at the outdoor bar in Gallery 5 to enjoy in those designated spaces during After Dark. Please note that there is no drinking or eating allowed elsewhere in the museum at this time.
