Picture the Millennium Falcon speeding toward hyperspace or Indy’s narrow escape from the Temple of Doom. What makes these iconic scenes convincing?

Join Lorne Peterson, Chief Model Maker for Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), and Exploratorium host Ron Hipschman for an inside view into the heyday of movie model making. Learn how meticulously detailed miniatures were made and filmed to appear real before the era of computer graphics, and how ordinary materials and ingenious fixes led to unforgettable moments of movie magic.

This four-part series will highlight legendary films from Lorne Peterson’s career at ILM, and leave plenty of time for audience questions. Come in costume as any character from a Lorne Peterson film and receive a $5 discount on-site.
